Grazier Pasture Tracker Software

One of the issues that graziers have is the problem of measuring how much feed their herd is consuming and how many days of feed is available on the farm.  Conventional farmers can do this easily by weighing all the feed given to the herd and then calculating how much feed is in storage.

With this in mind, we have developed the Grazier Pasture Tracker (GPT) software.  The software is designed to allow a grazier to record and track how much feed is consumed by the herd(s) along with how much feed is currently available on the farm.  Using a plate meter for the measurement, the grazier can record these readings either directly into the software on their PC or into a Pocket PC while they are in the field.

By doing regular pasture walks and recording before and after measurements for each paddock grazed, we can calculate how much dry matter the herd is consuming per day and therefore how many days of feed are available on the farm.  This information is vital to a grazier so that they are able to plan grazings and harvests as well as estimate the need for supplemental feed.
